* HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry visits hypermarkets
* Any outlet that tries to take advantage of crisis will face closure and fine
*All products that consumers need are readily available
HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari on Wednesday said the State's strategic reserve of food commodities can last for more than a year.
He also noted that the country's import policies continue at the same pace without any change, and called on suppliers, outlets and local manufacturers to play their natural role in providing goods in the quantities demanded by consumers, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
Any outlet that tries to take advantage of the crisis will face closure and a fine in accordance with Consumer Protection Law No 8 of 2008, he stressed.

The observations were made as HE the Minister visited a number of hypermarkets to take a close look at the strategic stock of food products and commodities, and to gain insight into the demand patterns of citizens and residents.
In a tweet, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said HE al-Kuwari "toured a number of hypermarkets to inspect, assess and monitor markets, and ensure the availability of food and consumer goods at stable prices".
He said all products that consumers need are readily available, as the State's imports are continuing without disruption. He also stressed the role retailers can play in ensuring the stability of the market by providing the needs of consumers and constantly restocking shelves.
HE al-Kuwari said the MoCI is addressing any shortcomings and is constantly monitoring the market to ensure the availability of food and consumer products at all outlets. He added that there is strong co-ordination with suppliers to ensure that imports continue normally, noting that prices have been stable.
