HE the Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi said that the committee, in cooperation and coordination with the Qatar Fund for Development, began on Tuesday the process of disbursing cash assistance to the needy families in the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador al-Emadi said that the distribution of $100 per family is being implemented through the post offices in the governorates of the Gaza Strip for 100,000 families, adding that this assistance is part of the $150mn grant awarded by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that the process of distributing cash assistance is carried out according to the new mechanism in cooperation with the relevant government agencies to meet safety standards for beneficiaries and to preserve sufficient distances between them, as part of preventive measures to address the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Ambassador al-Emadi thanked the Palestinian citizens who benefited from the cash assistance for their full cooperation and understanding of the safety measures issued by the competent authorities, within the instructions followed to confront the spread of the coronavirus.
The distribution process will continue for about two weeks, and that each beneficiary will be notified of the specific days in order to avoid the presence of crowds at post offices, ambassador al-Emadi said , stressing that the distribution process is carried out under the full supervision of the Qatari Committee's teams and its teams are present in the distribution centres round the clock.
