Under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the second high-level meeting of the Global Judicial Integrity Network will kick off at Sheraton Doha Hotel today. Hosted by the Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC), the meeting will run until Feb 27.
Under the title ‘Past, Present, Future’, the event will be held with the participation of chief justices, heads of judicial councils, judges and UN officials in addition to stakeholders and bodies related to the judicial work from different parts of the world.
The meeting aims to establish the paths of the Network’s achievements since its inception and evaluate its performance and methodologies during the period between the first and second meeting, as well as discussing emerging challenges to judicial integrity and the experiences of courts around the world in facing them, in addition to learning about the priorities that enable the Global Judicial Integrity Network to move forward.
HE the President of the Court of Cassation Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohanadi, who is also the president of SJC, will deliver a speech at the opening session of the meeting, followed by a speech by John Brandolino Representative of the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Marco Acehera, Project Director of the Global Network for Judicial Integrity, will give a presentation on the achievements of the Network since its inception.
