His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan chaired Monday the 5th session of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee at the Amiri Diwan.
The meeting dealt with the strong strategic ties in all fields, particularly political, trade partnerships, economic, and investment. That is in addition to energy affairs, manufacturing, industry, education, media, healthcare, tourism, and projects related to the hosting of World Cup 2022.
The two sides also discussed their counter-terrorism efforts and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, particularly in Palestine, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq.

His Highness the Amir and the Turkish president oversaw the signing of the joint final statement and a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU) that included amending the currency-swap agreement signed between Qatar Central Bank and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of urban planning, the signing of a declaration of intent between Qatar General Organisation for Standards and Metrology (QS) and the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE), the signing of an agreement between the government of Qatar and the government of Turkey on cooperation in the joint manufacturing and technology fields, the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of standards between the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and TSE, a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Financial Center and the financial office of the presidency in Turkey, and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Investment Promotion Agency and the investment office at the presidency of Turkey.
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of ministers, and on the Turkish side by members of the official delegation accompanying the president and ranking officials.
The Amir and Erdogan discussed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing strategic cooperation between the two countries in various fields in a meeting.
During the bilateral meeting, they exchanged views on all regional and international developments of common concern.
The Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of Erdogan and his accompanying delegation at the Amiri Diwan. The banquet was attended by a number of ministers, the Speaker of the Shura Council and a number of members of the council.
The president visited the Turkish military detachment in Doha.
During the visit, both sides reviewed the readiness of the Turkish forces and the joint cooperation between them and the Qatari forces.
Erdogan was accompanied by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah.
The Turkish president left Doha Monday evening after heading his country's delegation to the fifth session of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee.
The president and the delegation accompanying him were seen off upon departure from Hamad International Airport by Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al Attiyah and the Ambassador of Turkey Fikret Ozer.
A joint communique was issued after the 5th session of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee. It said the two sides stressed their commitment to enhancing the legal framework of their bilateral ties. They also expressed their satisfaction with the increase in bilateral trade volume in a way that reflects the strength of political ties. The committee welcomed the Qatari companies' increasing interest in investing in Turkey, and reviewed the commitment made by Qatar to invest $15bn in Turkey.
The committee also expressed its satisfaction with enhancing cooperation in projects related to hosting the World Cup finals in 2022.
The two sides expressed their willingness to enhance cooperation in defense industries over the long-term and discussed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the field of food security.
Qatar and Turkey held in-depth talks on international issues, stressing the importance of coordinating their positions and further strengthening the partnership in light of continued regional developments. The two sides reaffirmed their common commitment to maintaining and promoting peace, security and stability in the Middle East and neighboring regions, as well as finding peaceful resolution to disputes, without resorting to the threat of force or sanctions.
The committee stressed the importance of the unity of the Gulf Cooperation Council and stressed the need to adhere to the principles of mutual respect and full sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs and good-neighborliness, while clarifying that constructive dialogue is the only way to end the current Gulf crisis.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining maritime safety in the Gulf region. They stressed the importance of avoiding any rhetoric or action that would increase tensions in the region, and urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from escalation.
Both sides expressed concern over the recent developments in Palestine. They reaffirmed their mutual interest and solidarity in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The two sides affirmed their continued commitment to support the political process to end the Syrian crisis. They stressed the importance of preserving Iraq's unity and territorial integrity in order to achieve regional stability.
The two sides stressed the importance of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, and the need to end the war in Yemen through national reconciliation.
Qatar and Turkey also reiterated their support for just solutions to the issues faced by Libya, Somalia and Sudan.
