The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) on Thursday opened a signal-controlled junction between Al Maadeed Street and Haloul Street in Al Mamoura area.
The junction was opened as part of Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor Project.
The upgraded junction allows drivers coming from Haloul Interchange to turn left to Al Ghemar Street while drivers from Doha are allowed to turn left to Al Maadeed Street and drivers from Al Maadeed Street are allowed to continue straight or turn left to Haloul Street. A tweet by Ashghal said that it’s possible to turn right from all four sides of the junction.
Ashghal will install road signs to advise motorists about the new signal. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their and others safety.
Sabah Ahmad Corridor Project was launched in 2018 and it includes four contracts that will upgrade E-Ring Road, F-Ring Road, Mesaimeer Road, Al Bustan Street South and Al Bustan Street North. The project is expected to be completed by 2021. The new corridor also includes several multi-level interchanges that are expected to ensure smooth traffic on Doha Expressway and provide better traffic flow between south and north of Doha. It will also ensure easy access to five of the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums at Ras Bu Abboud, Al Thumama, Al Wakrah, Khalifa International and Qatar Foundation.
