The chances of rain are expected to resume from Sunday evening, the Qatar Met department has said.
The spell of ‘unsettled weather’ is likely to continue until Wednesday.
The Met department has urged people to be cautious and check weather conditions before venturing into the sea during this period, in view of the expected conditions.
In a report on Saturday, the department said “unsettled weather conditions” are expected to return to the country from this evening until Wednesday due to the “passage of an upper-level low-pressure system”.
There is a chance of scattered rain both inshore and offshore, which may become thundery at times in some areas. The rain will be accompanied by strong winds, which may attain a speed of 30kt, causing rising dust and high waves up to 8ft.
In general, the rainfall is expected to range from light to moderate, while temperatures will be around their average levels for this time of the year, hovering between 25C and 35C, the report states.
Sunday’s detailed forecast says thundery rain is expected in the country along with strong winds. Similar conditions are likely offshore, too, along with high seas.
The wind speed may go up to 25 knots inshore and 22 knots offshore during thundershowers, with the sea level rising to 7ft at times.
The temperature in Doha is expected to range from 24-33C on Sunday.
The Met department has advised people to follow latest updates through its official social media accounts.
Rainwater removed: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) on Saturday said its Joint Committee of Combating Rainwater Emergencies and Risks, along with rain emergency teams from various municipalities, drained out more than 1.5mn gallons of rainwater that had accumulated in different parts of the country.
The work was carried out in 375 batches.
Safar Mubarak al-Shafi, chairman of the committee, following the recent spell of showers, rain emergency teams in all municipalities exerted the necessary efforts and used all required equipment and tankers to remove rainwater from different places. They also addressed all water-related reports, the MME said in a statement.
