A shipment of about 9 tonnes of urgent medical aid sent by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) arrived in Iran yesterday, carrying health supplies to address the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The aid, airlifted by Qatar Airways planes in co-ordination with Qatar’s embassy in Tehran, comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The assistance is implemented in phases. More medical aid shipments will follow.
The cargo was received in presence of Qatar’s ambassador to Iran Mohamed bin Hamad al-Hajri along with Undersecretary of the Iranian Health Ministry for International Co-operation Affairs Jalal Naeli and a number of Iranian officials.
HE QFFD Director-General Khalifa al-Kuwari said that the medical aid complements the great efforts exerted by Qatar to address the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic which had negative impact on the world and caused many difficulties at all levels.
Stemming from the joint international responsibility, Qatar stands at the forefront of helping to confront the pandemic.
Qatar, under its wise leadership, did not hesitate to assist brotherly and friendly countries to contribute to limiting and preventing the spread of the pandemic.
The medical assistance provided by Qatar to sisterly and friendly countries comes within the framework of the efforts made to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, which represents a common threat facing the whole world.
